From Legend to Letdown: From Childhood Favorite to Neglected Relic

I swear I wanted to start this post by thanking the administrators of the new official Gunbound server for bringing the game back.
But honestly, what I feel now is far from gratitude, it's disgust for what they’ve done to something that marked so many childhoods.
They promised the game would be exactly like Season 1, with no modifications. And to be fair, they did keep part of that promise: they kept the bad management and somehow made it even worse!
Let’s go over the facts that have been making the community extremely sad and disappointed with the game:

- Horrible and poorly planned events:

It’s impossible to ignore the disaster the events have become. Instead of bringing back nostalgia and engaging players, what we’re seeing are completely thoughtless initiatives, poorly executed, and with no regard for the player experience.
There are no clear criteria, the rules are confusing, the rewards don’t justify the effort, and in many cases, things don’t even work as they should. It feels like everything is thrown together last minute, with no planning, no testing, and worst of all no listening to the feedback of those who actually play.

The result? Frustrated players, demotivated, and feeling like they’re being taken for fools. What should’ve been a celebration of the return of a classic has become a punchline and a huge disappointment.

An event with a one-week background image? Seriously???????????????????????????

What were the old events like?

Anyone who lived through the classic Gunbound era knows: the old events were simple but rewarding. No loot boxes to get avatars the focus was on participation and merit.
During the events, players earned points by playing matches. Those points could be exchanged for exclusive avatars, visual items, or gold.
And the best part? Everyone had a fair shot. All you had to do was play, stay dedicated, and follow the event calendar. It was fun, it brought the community together, and it encouraged players to come back daily.
Those events created a real sense of progress and rewarded the time players invested. Sadly, that spirit seems to have been lost replaced by poorly designed and opaque mechanics, where effort is rarely acknowledged.

- Gold with no purpose, what’s gold even for nowadays?

One of the biggest frustrations is the complete uselessness of gold it now serves no clear purpose.
Back in the day, farming gold was part of every player’s routine. That’s how we bought avatars and customized our characters. Today, the gold avatars have simply vanished from the shop, and all we’re left with is a dusty balance sitting there with no use at all.

This raises the obvious question: what is gold for now?
Unfortunately, the answer seems to be: nothing.
And what’s most frustrating is that no one even bothers to explain the change or offer any kind of alternative.

This kind of decision only reinforces the feeling of neglect toward the loyal player base. Relaunching the game without thinking about its in-game economy or the core player experience is just another sign of how poorly planned or worse, rushed and disconnected — everything has been.

If the goal was to revive the nostalgia of Season 1, they clearly forgot that part of that magic was the satisfaction of earning each avatar through effort and dedication not through lootboxes or forced cash spending.

Jewel boxes with a near-zero chance of getting an avatar????????????????????????????

What was it like before?

We could get really cool avatars with just gold!

- Bans without transparency:

While honest players try to enjoy what’s left of the original experience, the game is sinking deeper into chaos and a big part of that comes from the complete lack of transparency around bans.
Cheaters are running wild, blatantly using illegal tools, while others abuse freekill tactics to farm GP and climb the rankings with zero real effort. And the most infuriating part? Nothing happens. Or at least, no one knows if anything happens.
There are no clear updates about punishments, no official statements, no ban lists and the ranking is still filled with suspicious names, some with absurd, almost impossible stats. This kills competitiveness and demotivates anyone who tries to play fair.

The community needs answers. Needs action. And above all, needs transparency.
A competitive game that doesn’t show who’s being punished, doesn’t explain its rules, and doesn’t clean up its own rankings is doomed to lose credibility.

Dantex sends his regards!

What were the old transparent ban lists like?

Back then, we had public ban lists, regular updates, and clear criteria. Players could see who was being punished and for what and that helped maintain the integrity of the game.

To the administrators: listen to the community, not your own egos

Gunbound is back but not in the way many of us dreamed. There’s still time to fix the course, but that takes humility.

Listen to the people who play every day. Read the comments, look at the feedback, understand the criticism it’s not personal attacks, it’s a cry for help from those who genuinely love this game.

Managing a classic comes with responsibility, and that starts with dialogue. Ignoring the community out of pride or vanity only pushes away the very people who keep this server alive: the players.

Step down from the pedestal, listen to the community, and treat this legacy with the respect it deserves.
There’s still time to save Gunbound but it won’t be done alone. It takes listening to the ones who’ve always been here, even when you weren’t.
